Fake news: Sarikei JKR clarifies Sungai Nyelong Bridge did not collapse

SIBU, Sept 23: The Sarikei Public Works Department (JKR) has clarified that a viral photo making its rounds on social media showing that Sungai Nyelong Bridge has collapsed is fake news.

In a statement, its engineer, Toh Chee Leong, said that the bridge is still intact and safe for use.

“There is no basis that Sungai Nyelong Bridge has collapsed, and we want to confirm that it is fake news,” he said.

Toh also advised road users and residents to refrain from spreading fake news on social media.

Meanwhile, he said his depmonitorsnitoring the access road to the said bridge weekly.

“Monitoring work is done every Friday from September to November,” he said. — DayakDaily
