Miri, Oct 9: Renowned Malaysian singer Faizal Tahir will join an exciting line-up of artistes to perform in the Konsert Rakyat this Saturday at the Coco Cabana, here.
Organised by the state government, the special free concert on Oct 12 is held in conjunction with the 83rd birthday celebration of the Sarawak Governor Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud.
Starting at 8pm, other local singers slated to entertain the crowd for the evening included popular Iban singers Ricky Andrewson and Melissa Francis.
Others included Firdaus Materang, Bibiyanti, Dreamage, D’ Voice, Norafizah Busman, Raquel Then, Siti Hajar, as well as the famed Tuku Kame.
“The crowd can expect an evening of good entertainment including traditional and contemporary dances by other artistes,” said in a statement issued by the Unit Komunikasi Awam Sarawak (Ukas) today.
An array of events have been lined up in Miri from Oct 11-13 to celebrate the Head of State’s birthday celebration, which included a parade at Miri Stadium involving some 5,000 participants and 106 contingents on Saturday morning.
An investiture ceremony will be held after the parade, followed by a state banquet, featuring special performances by Orkestra Tradisional Malaysia from Istana Budaya, Kuala Lumpur.
On Sunday, there will be a high tea reception, where Taib will present welfare aid to the underprivileged, followed by the launching of the “Dirgahayu Exhibition” at Pustaka Miri. — DayakDaily
