KUCHING, Nov 5: There are always new contenders in the warzone as Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof (GPS-PBB) stands strong in P194 Petra Jaya for his fourth parliamentary election.

This time around, the 60-year-old will defend his seat against two new challengers, 54-year-old Sopian Julaihi (PH-PKR) and 66-year-old Dato Othman Abdillah (Sedar).

Returning officer Mohamed Khaidir Abang announced the candidates at 10am at the SMK Petra Jaya nomination centre here.

Fadillah has held Petra Jaya for four consecutive terms since 2004, making the seat a GPS stronghold.

Throughout his reign, no contenders have stuck around, at least for the second time, to fight against Fadillah.

Also present were Samariang assemblywoman Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, Tupong assemblyman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, and Satok assemblyman Datuk Ibrahim Baki. — DayakDaily
