KUCHING, April 4: Three ferries will be operational at Kuala Igan, Muara Lassa and Batang Paloh ferry points with extended operating hours in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations starting tomorrow (April 5) until 14.
The Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak announced that at the Kuala Igan ferry point, one ferry will be in operation from 4am to midnight, while two additional ferries will operate from 6am to midnight.
At the Muara Lasaa and Batang Paloh ferry points, three ferries will serve commuters from 6am to midnight respectively.
With additional ferries and extended operation hours, JKR Sarawak said the initiative aims to reduce waiting times as well as mitigate traffic congestion around the ferry points during the festive period.
Motorists are advised to plan their journeys ahead and comply with standard operating procedures (SOP) of ferry operation and instructions issued by ferry operators.
