MIRI, Nov 16: The front part of a house in Pujut 2D along the Pujut-Lutong road here was damaged after an unknown man tossed an explosive object onto the premises on Friday night.

No one was injured in the 8.20pm incident.

Prior to the attack, closed circuit television (CCTV) caught the image of a man approaching the area and throwing the object into the house.

The 66-year-old house owner who was at that time having dinner in the city centre immediately rushed back home after being notified about the incident by his maid.

A police report was lodged that same night by the victim as he feared for his family’s safety.

A Miri police team rushed to the scene to investigate.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had used ‘mercun bola’, a highly explosive firecracker in the attack.

The complainant believed that the attack could have been motivated by the RM3 million debt which his son owes to a money lending company.

The case is being investigated under Section 436/427 of the Penal Code. — DayakDaily
