KUCHING, July 9: Heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds are expected in several parts of Sarawak this evening.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), in a notice issued at 5.04pm today and valid until 8pm, said the adverse weather is forecast to affect Kuching (Lundu and Kuching), Samarahan (Samarahan and Asajaya), Betong (Betong), Sarikei (Pakan and Julau), Sibu (Sibu and Selangau), Mukah (Daro, Matu, Dalat and Mukah), Bintulu (Tatau and Sebauh) as well as Miri (Marudi).
“A thunderstorm warning is issued when signs indicate a storm with rain intensity greater than 20 mm/hour is approaching or expected to last for more than an hour.
“This warning is short-term and valid for a maximum of six hours per release,” said MetMalaysia. — DayakDaily
