KUCHING, Sept 15: Entertainment outlets which failed to comply with the general safety and health guidelines as well as their respective standard operating procedures (SOP) will be ordered to close immediately.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) gave this warning following an increase in issuance of compound notices against violators.

“The Local Government and Housing Ministry and the police have recorded an increase in compound action cases being taken against visitors of entertainment premises who did not adhere to SOP,” the statement said today.

Meanwhile, entertainment outlets including room karaokes, open concept karaokes and busking performances are only allowed to operate until 12 midnight while disco outlets and live bands remain prohibited.

This order takes effect from Sept 4 until Dec 31, 2020.

In the past 24 hours, two individuals have been fined RM1,000 for violating Covid-19 SOP throughout Sarawak.

Police issued one compound notice in Betong and one in Sarikei.

Under Ops Benteng with six roadblocks mounted in five districts of Lundu, Bau, Serian, Sri Aman and Lubok Antu, a total of 1,877 vehicles had been inspected.
