BINTULU, Nov 28: Four blocks of longhouses involving 50 doors from Rh Jarau Kampung Dayak in Sungai Plan were hit by a landslide, reportedly caused by hill slope erosion following a heavy rain last night.
Bintulu fire zone chief PgKB II Wan Kamaruddin Wan Ahmad said a team of firefighters were deployed to the site upon receiving the distress call at 7.31am.
They discovered the landslide at the back of the longhouse and the movement of land went as far as 100 meters.
A total of 64 residents from 12 families were affected but no one was hurt in the incident.
All of them refused to seek temporary shelter at Muhibah Stadium evacuation centre.
However, they were advised by firefighters to evacuate if the situation worsened. – DayakDaily
