My favourite styles of country music is traditional blue grass, anything with a banjo, mandolin, pedal steel and the fiddle, that’s what I am drawn to,” said Diamond Dolly in a recent video interview.

Her favourite singers are Allison Krauss, Johnny Cash and the more traditional Dolly Parton.

“I chose to represent Dolly Parton as a tribute act because I am in awe of her and her music, she comes from a unique background and she is a self-made woman,” she added.

When asked about Malaysia and what she is expecting upon her arrival in Miri, she said “I have been told that Malaysia is a melting pot of different cultures and I am excited to see what that fusion looks like. I believe there are similarities between our countries as where I’m from in England, it is also a multi-cultural and multi-racial place as I live among a large mixed community of Pakistani, Irish, Afro-Caribbean people and more. I look forward to seeing the mix of culture in Malaysia and hope learn more about it.”

“I can’t wait to perform at MCMF. I believe Dolly’s music tells amazing stories in a universal language that you and I can relate to even though we are from different cultures and I can’t wait to share it with the people in Miri. I hope MCMF fans are ready to party with me,” she added.
