KUCHING, May 1: Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg calls on all Sarawakians of various races, ethnicities, religions and political inclinations, especially Muslims, to celebrate this Hari Raya Aidilfitri with strengthened ties and respect with one another.
In his Hari Raya Aidilfitri message, the Premier noted that 2020 and 2021 had been remarkably difficult for all due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“But we have persevered in the face of challenges. I believe the challenges we faced with the strength of faith has never weakened our commitment to seek forgiveness and mercy in the month of Ramadan.
“After a month of fasting, we celebrate the victory with gratitude for the blessings of patience to perform fasting with Muslims around the world.
“We are also thankful to Allah SWT, because with his blessings Sarawak can move into the endemic phase with further ease of restrictions where we can all live our daily lives near normal and be more comfortable,” he said.
Abang Johari emphasised that Islam is a religion that is ‘fitrah’ (human nature) with its entire teachings aim at preserving the dignity of man as a manifestation of the majesty and greatness of Allah SWT.
“Let us all celebrate this glorious day with a spirit of goodwill and brotherhood among fellow human beings regardless of religious and racial differences even in challenging circumstances,” he added.
Abang Johari together with wife Juma’ani wish Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Maaf Zahir dan Batin, to all Muslims, especially to all Sarawakians wherever they are.
Meanwhile, Abang Johari and wife Juma’ani will be holding a Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house for one day on the second day (May 4) of the celebration at Pullman Hotel in Kuching this year. — DayakDaily
