Engkilili to have 34 SMART telco towers under Phase 1 of JENDELA

KUCHING, May 19: Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) are currently implementing 34 telecommunication towers under Sarawak Multimedia Authority Rural Telecommunication (SMART) project in Engkilili constituency.

Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunication, Datuk Liwan Lagang, said of the total, 23 towers have been completed while 11 are still under construction.


“Meanwhile, 11 more towers are in various stages of implementation under Phase 1 of the National Digital Network Plan (JENDELA) by the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC),” he said when responding to Johnical Rayong Ngipa (PSB-Engkilili) during question time in the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting today.

He also mentioned that Merindun and Engkilili areas have enjoyed the MySRBN service implemented by SDEC.

Liwan further revealed that in Phase 2 later, the telecommunication towers will be implemented in 11 more areas namely, Mawang Rh Kruntap, Rh Lanting, Rh Lidam Liu, Rh Spalau and Rh Ugum, Tebarong, Belawan, Rh Hulu Akup, Rh Kujuh and Rh Mulok, Nanga Putoh, Nanga Jambu and Rh Duri Bangat and Entaban Ulu.

Additionally, he said eight areas in Engkilili have received the broadband services via satellite namely, Lubok Maluh, Hulu Akup, Rh Mulok, Rh Nanga Darai, Nanga Lalang, Rh Upok Lepong Kepayang, Rh Belisan of Tembawai Tumpang in Ulu Skrang and Rh Chunggat of Pulau in Skrang.

Meanwhile, Kampung Stuga and Blaie have enjoyed Internet services via WiFi. — DayakDaily
