Empty school along Jalan Abang Galau up in smoke

The empty school caught on fire on Friday afternoon.

KUCHING, July 17: A school at Jalan Abang Galau, Bintulu which has been vacant for almost five years caught fire on Friday afternoon.

Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) was contacted at 1.42pm and a team was deployed to the scene immediately.


According to the statement from the State Bomba Operation Centre, the school with five classrooms was empty after they had moved to a new location. The fire had consumed 80 per cent of the building and Bomba had managed to put out the fire by using five nozzles connected to a nearby fire hydrant.

No victims were involved in the incident. Bomba’s forensic team will be investigating the cause of the fire as well as the total loss from the fire.
