KUCHING, Nov 2: Kampung Haji Baki is safe, says Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang.

He opined the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) at Kampung Haji Baki has been successful seeing as no new Covid-19 cases have been reported in the village for two days straight.

“There were some 30 (Covid-19) cases (in Kampung Haji Baki) just three days ago, but today (Nov 1) and yesterday (Oct 31), there were zero cases from the village.

“This all means that Kampung Haji Baki is safe. We are successful in our operation,” he said during a Facebook live session last night.

Despite the improving situation, he urged all villagers to be patient and not to leave or attempt to sneak out of Kampung Haji Baki.

Lo revealed he was made to understand that there were one or two villagers who tried to quietly leave the village and one of them was caught red-handed.

“I really do hope the villagers of Kampung Haji Baki will be very patient because the 14-day period is important.

“If everyone continues to stay safe throughout these 14 days, Kampung Haji Baki can be back to normal. Otherwise, everyone’s lives will be difficult,” he added.

Meanwhile, Lo said Kampung Haji Baki is very fortunate in spite of the lockdown situation as many from outside of the village has been sending food supplies, vegetables and other necessities to them.

Though assured that the food supply is enough to feed all the mouths in the village, he heard rumours that some houses from Block B, Lorong 19 did not receive any of the distributed food.

“I sincerely apologise if that happens to be true, that there have been some mistakes. If it is true, please let me know. You may contact me through my Facebook, or even faster (sic), message me using WhatsApp at 0138188088,” said Lo. — DayakDaily
