RM50k in handphones stolen from shop along Jalan Wong King Huo

SIBU, May 8: An electrical shop at Jalan Wong King Huo suffered more than RM50,000 in losses when thieves carted away 30 units of branded handphones early this morning.

The break-in was discovered by staff at about 8 am when he was about to open for business. The alarm of the shop had been triggered at 5.45 am when it was believed that the theft occurred around this time.

Sibu district police chief, ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit led a police team to the scene upon receiving a report from staff of the shop at 8 am today.

“The thieves gained entry by breaking the front door glass panel while the aluminium shutter was left ajar. We have found a modified iron rod which we believed had been used to smash the glass panel,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 457 / 379A of the Penal Code for burglary and theft. —DayakDaily
