MIRI, March 10: A 67-year-old woman was killed after being hit by an SUV in a fatal accident along Jalan Miri-Airport on March 9.
Miri district police chief, ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, confirmed that the accident occurred at approximately 7.30pm.
The vehicle involved was a Toyota Fortuner driven by a 42-year-old man. Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver was on his way back to Luak when the accident took place.
The woman reportedly attempted to suddenly cross the road, resulting in the collision.
The impact of the crash caused the woman to die at the scene while the driver was unharmed. The vehicle sustained damage to its front section.
Following the accident, police have opened an investigation paper under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which pertains to causing death by reckless or dangerous driving. — DayakDaily
