KUCHING, July 30: A 66-year-old man was found dead in a severely decomposed state in the living room of his home in Taman Seng Goon here yesterday (July 29), believed to have died several days prior.
According to Acting Kuching District Police Chief Superintendent Merbin Lisa, police received a call from a concerned neighbour at about 3.45pm reporting that the elderly man had not been seen leaving his house for more than 10 days.
“Worried about his well-being, the neighbour requested the police to check on him.
“A team from Sungai Maong Police Station was immediately dispatched to the location, where they found the man lifeless and already in a decomposed state, believed to have died several days before being discovered,” he said in a statement, as reported by TVS.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the man had been living alone, and no foul play has been detected so far.
“The body has been sent to the Forensic Department of Sarawak General Hospital (HUS) for a post-mortem to determine the cause of death, after the next-of-kin was successfully traced,” he added.
