Eight more medical staff test positive for Covid-19, pushes total to 85

KUCHING, Feb 2: Eight more medical staff are confirmed as Covid-19 positive, bringing the total number of infected healthcare providers in the state to 85 since Jan 25, 2021.

This latest development was reported by Sarawak Disaster Management Committee.

Out of the eight new such infections today, five involved medical personnel from medical facilities in Sibu District while three were from Miri District.

On Jan 25, in answering to a question posed by DayakDaily, Sarawak Health director Dr Chin Zin Hing revealed that as of that day, there were in total 53 medical staff across four major hospitals in Sarawak being infected by the dreaded pandemic.

And on Jan 26, DayakDaily reported that there were five additional Covid-19 cases among the healthcare provider team across Sarawak.

On Jan 29, Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) revealed there were nine infections among the healthcare providers in Sarawak.

On Jan 30, there was another case reported while the following day, SDMC announced that three medical staff had become infected.

Yesterday, six more cases were reported by SDMC, pushing the total number of infections among medical staff in the state to 77.

Adding on the eight new such cases in Sarawak today, the total number of infections among medical staff in Sarawak has has risen to 85 since Jan 25, 2021. — DayakDaily
