Eight medical personnel infected with Covid-19

KUCHING, Feb 22: A total of eight cases of Covid-19 infections were reported involving healthcare workers in the state today.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in a press statement, today said seven of the cases were reported in Sibu healthcare facilities and one in a Kuching healthcare centre, bringing the total number involving healthcare workers infected with the coronavirus statewide to 205 cases.

Previously (on Feb 21), the state recorded a total of 197 cases after an additional four cases were also recorded from both Sibu and Kuching.


State Health director Dr Chin Zin Hing, on Feb 9, had disclosed that there were a total of 162 cases of Covid-19 involving medical personnel recorded between January to Feb 8.

On the same day (Feb 9), four new cases were reported, followed by three more cases on the next day, which added up to a total of 169 cases of healthcare workers being infected with the virus.

Subsequently, the number of cases involving medical workers continue to be detected almost on a daily basis with four cases on Feb 11, one in Feb 12, four on Feb 13, one each on Feb 14 and Feb 15, eight on Feb 16, two on Feb 18, one on Feb 19, two on Feb 20 and four yesterday (Feb 21). –DayakDaily.
