KUCHING, Nov 25: Magistrate’s Court here sentenced 8 individuals to a fine of RM800 each for involving in illegal gambling activity.
The eight accused pleaded guilty to the charge here today.
Magistrate Zaiton Annuar accepted their plea of guilt and sentenced them to a fine of RM800 or in default 10 days imprisonment each.
They were found in a common gaming house playing with poker gambling, at a house in Jalan Foochow 1U, Taman Sik Juan, on November 8, at about 5 pm.
They were charged under Section 6(1) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953, and read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code, which carries a fine not exceeding RM 50,000 or imprisonment not exceeding six months or with both, upon conviction.
