KUCHING, March 31: The Ministry of Education (MOE) has no plans to reintroduce the Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) and Form 3 Assessment (PT3) examinations.
According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today, Education Minister, Fadhlina Sidek, said MOE is focusing on the empowerment of School Based Assessment (PBS), which involves components of Classroom Assessment (PBD), Physical Activity, Sports and Co-curricular Assessment (PAJSK), and Psychometric Assessment (Ppsi).
“These aim to assess students from the intellectual, emotional, spiritual, physical, and social aspects in line with the National Education Philosophy,” she said when answering a question from Serian MP Dato Sri Richard Riot Jaem at the Dewan Rakyat on Thursday (March 30).
Fadhlina added that, through PBS, student development in sports, co-curricular, moral values, interests and inclinations, and character formation is strengthened.
She said this aligns with MOE’s core, which prioritises soft skills by building manners, morals, and integrity to bring forth capable students. — DayakDaily
