KUCHING, June 25: Eat Roam Relish: Sarawak, Malaysia is a new six-part television series produced for the Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) and airing on SBS Food, SBS OnDemand, and the Asian Food Network, offering an epic, visually stunning, and flavour-packed journey into the heart of Sarawak’s rich and diverse food culture.

According to a media release, this project marked the first long-form series from Benjamin O’Donnell (producer/director) and Giovanni Pacialeo (director/cinematographer), the creative duo behind Delicious Film & Content.

Drawing on their combined expertise in food filmmaking, narrative storytelling, advertising, and high-end tabletop production, the pair crafted a unique visual and culinary experience.

To authentically capture the soul, colour, and texture of Sarawak’s food heritage, O’Donnell and Pacialeo joined forces with a local crew, trekking through rivers and jungle-clad mountains with their gear in tow — a true adventure in pursuit of authenticity.

O’Donnell described the project as a powerful example of brand-funded content done right — a cinematic ‘postcard’ of Sarawak created to the highest production standards.

“The result is enduring. Audiences around the world can embark on an experiential journey with Audra through Sarawak’s landscapes, flavours, and people.

“We like to think of it as Chef’s Table meets Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy — a genre-blending mix of documentary, presenter-led storytelling, and advertorial.

“At the heart of it all is Audra, fully present in every moment, sharing her personal reflections and culinary insights with warmth and depth,” he said.

As cinematographer, Pacialeo brought a deliberate cinematic lens to the project with every frame designed with intention.

“The visual style is informed by a deep respect for the interconnectedness of the landscape, people, colours, and cuisine.

“As we scouted locations, a deeper understanding began to emerge. The landscape, people, colours and food are not separate elements but part of an interconnected whole.

“Eat Roam Relish is true to its title. It’s an immersive experience that shines a light on the locals, ensuring their voices, stories and pride of place are given space to resonate on screen,” he said.

Astrid Sampson, senior producer at WTFN and a veteran of Australian food television (MasterChef Australia, My Kitchen Rules, Ready Steady Cook), praised the series for capturing chef Audra Morrice in her element.

“The viewer becomes immersed in the soothing and heartfelt connection to family.

“The gastronomic feasts are complemented by the warmth of the people and the beautiful cinematography in this series; a blending that uncovers not only culinary secrets, but dishes that are bursting with flavour and guaranteed to delight viewers,” he added.
