KUCHING, May 15: The Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) has officially received the completed earthwork project for its new building at the site today.
According to a statement, the earthwork, covering approximately 12.6 acres, includes the filling of 34 agricultural ponds, installation of temporary hoarding, turfing, fencing works, and overall site earthworks in preparation for the next stage of development.
MPP chairman, Tan Kai, with MPP council engineer Mohd Hazwan Othman, representatives from contractor Merakai Indah Sdn Bhd, and MPP officers, conducted an inspection on the completed project site and expressed his satisfaction with the quality of the works carried out, especially the filling and compaction involving seven layers of soil.
He added that the contractor carried out a fill density test for each layer to ensure the land is properly compacted and stable for future development.

At the same time, he also expressed his appreciation to all parties involved in ensuring the successful completion of the project within the planned scope.
He shared his hope that the future MPP building will serve as a convenient and welcoming place for the public to conduct daily business and dealings with the Council.
In addition, he said the new development is envisioned to include recreational facilities and spaces that are inclusive and beneficial for the community.
Following the completion of the earthwork phase, the council will proceed with the next phase of development involving the construction of the building in the nearest time. — DayakDaily
