LAWAS, June 7: A smoked fish processing factory at Kampung Bangsal Awat-Awat was consumed by fire early this morning.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak responded to the emergency at 5.45am and immediately mobilised a team of firefighters from the Lawas Station to the scene.

The fire completely destroyed the factory, but fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported.
Firefighters faced challenges in accessing the location as the road was impassable by its fire truck.
They had to engage villagers to use their boats to transport firefighting equipment to the scene.
The fire was controlled and extinguished using open water source by around 8.20am, while overhauling operations are still ongoing. — DayakDaily
