Early morning crash in front of Premier 101 in Kuching claims life of 37yo driver

KUCHING, April 28: A 37-year-old local man died following a two-vehicle crash along Jalan Tun Jugah here early this morning (April 28), while two others were slightly injured.

According to a statement from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the accident involving two victims, a male and a female in a Perodua Bezza and a male in a Nissan Sunny, happened around 3.38am in front of Premier 101.


After receiving an emergency call, firefighters from the Tabuan Jaya fire station were immediately dispatched to the scene, which was approximately eight kilometres away.

“Upon arrival at the scene, it was discovered that the driver of the Nissan Sunny was still stuck in his seat, so extrication work was performed to free him from his vehicle,” read the statement.

Paramedics pronounced the victim, 37-year-old Bong Kee Tze, dead at the scene. His body was transported to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for postmortem examinations.

The Bezza driver and his female passenger escaped the accident with minor injuries.

“After ensuring that the situation is safe and under control at the scene, the firefighters return to the station.

“The operation ended at 4.50am,” Bomba said. — DayakDaily
