Drug suspect arrested during “Ops Tapis” in Bau

KUCHING, July 8: A 35-year-old self-employed man from Kampung Rukam in Bau was arrested after police found 0.28 gramme of syabu inside his car during “Ops Tapis”, yesterday.

Bau district police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the arrest was made at 11.20 pm, after a team from Bau District Narcotics Crime Investigation Division stopped the suspect in his vehicle for behaving suspiciously.

“A frisk on the suspect has found nothing illegal. However, upon inspecting the suspect’s vehicle, police have found one small plastic packet containing a clear, crystallised substance believed to be syabu, with an estimated weight of 0.28 gramme.

“The suspect was arrested under the Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs act 1952,” he said in a press statement today.

Poge noted that an initial urine test on the suspect were also positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine and he was detained under Section 15 (1)(a) of Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

“The suspect also has a record of previous offences and a remand order will be apply today (July 8),” he added. –DayakDaily.
