SIBU, Feb 24: A man died after the car he was driving was involved in a self-accident on Jalan Deshon early this morning.
In the 6.30am accident, the driver, 23, died at the scene.
The accident occurred when he was travelling from Sibujaya towards the town centre.
The deceased lost control of his car which then skidded to the left side of the road before hitting a rock and skidding into the right lane of the road.
The strong impact ejected the driver from the car.
Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Superintendent Alexson Naga Chabu said the driver was pronounced dead on the scene by Sibu Hospital ambulance personnel.
Based on information obtained, the deceased is from Rumah Julin Sungai Mapai Sungai Aping, Kanowit.
Alexson said the man’s body had been taken to Sibu Hospital for an autopsy.
“The cause of the incident is still under investigation under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he added. — DayakDaily
