Dr Yii’s report card reveal: Over RM9 million spent on Bandar Kuching constituency since 2018

KUCHING, Oct 22: Bandar Kuching incumbent Dr Kelvin Yii Lee Wuen has spent a total of RM9,890,467.50 on education, welfare, health, the community, and youth development in his parliamentary constituency from 2018 until 2022.

According to Democratic Action Party (DAP) Bandar Kuching Service Centre, from the total amount spent, RM3,552,945 (36 per cent) was allocated for education, RM2,528,993.10 for the community (25.6 per cent), RM2,346,794.40 (23.6 per cent) on welfare, RM829,455 (8.4 per cent) on health, and RM632,280 (6.4 per cent) on youth development.

Within five years of being elected as an MP, the DAP Socialist Youth (DAPSY) national chief was also selected as chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) for Health, Science, and Innovation in December 2020.


The committee has been crucial in assessing and advising the Federal government on Covid-19 issues such as the Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act, including the upcoming Tobacco and Cigarette Control Act.

Apart from that, Dr Yii is also actively voicing out on issues involving health, education, and the youth, including Sarawak’s rights under Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), in the parliamentary session.

Among others, he has also represented Malaysia in forums held in Australia, German, Taiwan, Russia, the UK, New Zealand, and Cambodia. — DayakDaily
