KUCHING, July 27: Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii and his team are looking forward to continue working together with Padungan assemblyman Wong King Wei.

Refused to be renominated as Democratic Action Party (DAP) Padungan candidate, Wong announced his resignation from the party last night (July 26, 2020).

“For the time being, looking forward to continue working together for the benefit of our constituents in Padungan and Bandar Kuching,” Dr Yii said in a statement in his Facebook account today.

He said his team would try their best, to do their best and serve the best they could in their given situation.

“With that I wish you all the best Wong King Wei ” Dr Yii said, admitting that he was shocked to receive the news yesterday of a person he called a brother, deciding to take a back seat from politics.

He said Wong was there ever since he joined politics, and since the beginning they exchanged ideas, discussed policies, worked hand in hand to serve and even shared their dreams of the future for the betterment of the people.

“Politics is a journey of ups and downs, highs and lows, disappointment and joy, but more importantly, through it all, it also serves as learning curves, experience and opportunity for growth for the betterment of the people.

“There is no perfect being, perfect platform or ideal circumstance, but even in any disagreements, it is also an opportunity for us all and himself to reflect and continue to learn, to grow and give his best as he carries out the responsibility that has been given and trusted unto him,” he added.

In announcing his resignation from the party last night, Wong believed that he had to make known his intention now as the Sarawak election is around the corner.

Wong also cited his disappointment over DAP’s refusal to listen to any dissenting voice, the lack of inclusivity in opinion and viewpoints and the party’s failure to fulfil its promises when it was helming the government for 22 months as reasons for his leaving. — DayakDaily
