KUCHING, March 3: Deputy Premier of Sarawak Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian has stated that he will consult with Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and Land and Survey Department Sarawak regarding the land application for the construction of the new Bau District Council (MDB) office.
According to a TVS news report today, Dr Sim recalled MDB as a small place when the councillors were sworn in.
On another note, the minister stated that Sarawak needs more highly skilled workers, particularly locals, to serve in their home State.
He emphasised the need for a specialised workforce to achieve the government’s goal of creating a developed and prosperous state.
“That is why Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is giving free education starting in 2026.
“Approximately 20,000 Sarawakians will receive free education at UCTS (University College of Technology Sarawak), Swinburne (Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak), Curtin (Curtin University Malaysia), Centex (Centre for Technology Excellence Sarawak), and i-Cats (i-Cats University College),” he was quoted as saying.
Dr Sim stated this at the Chinese Lunar New Year Gala celebration, which took place last night (March 2) at the Bau Auditorium. — DayakDaily
