KUCHING, Aug 26: Sarawakians who are looking to get their second doses of AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccines in the State will have to arrange an appointment with Borneo Medical Centre (BMC).

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) advisor Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian said this would apply to those who have had their first AZ doses at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) or in West Malaysia.

“After the last dose of AZ on Aug 23 in Kuching, the PPV (vaccination centre) at BCCK finally came to a close after the HCO (healthcare organisation), supporting team, JKNS (Sarawak State Health Department) and Protect Health Malaysia did an amazingly outstanding job.

“For Sarawakians who have missed Dose 2 of AstraZeneca (including those who had Dose 1 in West Malaysia recently and not able to go back to their original Dose 1 PPV), please follow the instructions (attached),” he said.

Effective Aug 25, these individuals are to contact the BMC hotline for AZ and BMC will arrange the date for vaccination at its premises.

Those who are interested in getting AZ vaccines for the first time, however, will have to first e-mail their details to jknswkcovid19@gmail.com and wait for approval.

Meanwhile, Dr Sim also urged eligible adults aged above 18 who have yet to be vaccinated and prefer Sinovac vaccines, to visit either SJK Chung Hua, Pending or Dewan Majma’ Tunku Abd Halim Mu’adzam Shah coming Friday (Aug 27) as soon as possible before stocks run out.

“Sarawak’s Sinovac vaccine stock is running low. If you prefer Sinovac and have not yet received your first dose, please don’t miss the opportunity. Come directly to the venues and get vaccinated as soon as possible,” he said in a social media post last night (Aug 25). — DayakDaily
