KUCHING, Aug 26: Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr James Masing believes Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob should create a lean Cabinet and fill it with high-calibre people to head several important portfolios to lead the country out of the Covid-19 pandemic.
He argued that these should include the Health Ministry, Home Affairs Ministry, Defence Ministry, Human Resources Ministry, Finance Ministry, Rural Development Ministry, Works Ministry, Education Ministry and Agriculture Ministry.
“Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s Cabinet should be a lean and mean war Cabinet as we are at war against Covid-19.
“These positions must be filled with suitable people with appropriate skills.
“Please put square pegs into square holes,” he said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri was reported as saying that he will announce his Cabinet line-up this week after being presented and consented by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
He became the ninth prime minister of Malaysia, succeeding Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin who resigned on Aug 16 upon losing the majority support of members of the Parliament. — DayakDaily
