KUCHING, Sept 11: Batu Kawah assemblyman Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian reminds the Pan Borneo contractor undertaking the ongoing construction of Batu Kawa-Tudong road to improve the road safety measures.

Dr Sim, in a press statement today, emphasised that all necessary safety measures should be in place on the first day when the construction work started.

“The lack of safety signage on site has caused a fatal incident, which occurred recently. I don’t want any more incidents to happen again along this road which is caused by lack of safety signage.

“In foreign countries, the authority can take action against contractors if incidents happen,” he said.

Dr Sim, who is also Minister for Local Government and Housing, together with the Public Works Department (JKR) senior officers and contractors, made a visit to the construction site today.

The contractor involved in the construction project has also assured that the safety measures along the road would be improved and JKR will be tasked to monitor the situation closely. –DayakDaily.
