KUCHING, Feb 27: Public Health, Housing and Local Government Minister Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian is calling upon local medical practitioners to work together with the State government and capitalise on the healthcare system in the State.
He believed that there are many young talents who are successful in their own fields but lacked the spirit to take on innovation and capitalise on their talent.
He revealed that Sarawak has projected that its yearly income will increase more than two-fold by 2030, adding that the State has recorded about RM6 billion revenue in 2018 and has almost doubled that number for this year.
“Even in another five years, you can imagine how much money we are going to have. Therefore, issues that we cannot address for the last 60 years will no longer be an (impossible task).
“Now we own this easy money but I want Sarawakians especially the medical practitioners to be able to capitalise on it and squeeze out every drop of it,” he said at the official launching of O-Arm Surgical Imaging System held at Borneo Medical Centre (BMC) Kuching today.
He implied that Sarawak cannot just settle as a State with rich resources but have an unhealthy population, asserting it is crucial for the healthcare system to be improved in tandem with the State’s aspirations.
“Therefore, those who have talent and are successful in their own fields must shift their mindset (and work on) how we can make a prosperous Sarawak together,” he added.
At the event, Dr Sim launched the O-Arm Surgical Imaging System which is a surgical imaging platform designed for use in spine, cranial, orthopedic, ENT and trauma-related surgeries.
It provides real-time, intra-operative imaging of a patient’s anatomy with high quality images and a large field-of-view in both two and three dimensions. — DayakDaily
