KUCHING, Feb 18: About 30 to 40 per cent of eligible children aged 5 to 11 did not turn up for their vaccination appointments, said Deputy Chief Minister Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian.

Dr Sim said parents must get their children vaccinated due to the increasing number of children infected with the Omicron variant.

“We are competing with the Omicron surge, and we need parents and teachers to help in the vaccination process.

“Together with the spirit of Sarawak solidarity thus far, we shall overcome Covid-19 Omicron surge,” said Dr Sim in his Facebook post yesterday.

The 48,000 doses of Pfizer vaccines under PICKids that arrived in KIA yesterday.

Meanwhile, another 48,000 doses of Pfizer vaccines for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme for Children (PICKids) arrived at Kuching International Airport yesterday.

Since Feb 3, about 50,000 or 17 per cent out of 286,000 eligible Sarawakian children have been vaccinated. — DayakDaily
