Dr Nuing Jeluing reappointed as Senator

KUCHING, Nov 10: Dr. Nuing Jeluing has been reappointed a Senator for a second term for another 3 years from Dec 11, 2020 to Dec 10, 2023 by the State Legislative Assembly (DUN).

Dr Nuing’s current term of service expires on Dec 10 this year.

His uncontested reappointment was proposed by Minister of Utilities, who is also Kemena assemblyman Datuk Dr Stephen Rundi Utom and seconded by Assistant Minister of Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail.


Dr Rundi, who nominated Dr Nuing, said that he had served his first term with dedication and honour.

“He has actively participated in the proceedings in the Dewan Negera and shown during his deliberations that he always promotes and protects the interests, the rights and the welfare of Sarawak.

“He has served as a medical officer in various government hospitals in Sarawak since 1978 before joining Sarawak Shell Berhad in 1983 where he remained as chief medical officer for Shell companies in Malaysia until his retirement in January 2007,” he informed the august House today.

That apart, Dr Nuing is also a member of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) since 2000.

He was elected the Supreme Council member since 2013 and was also PBB N60 Kakus branch chief from 2009 until 2017.

Dr. Rundi in expressing confidence in the vast experience of Dr. Nuing, believed the later if reelected will continue to advance and safeguard the interests of the people of Sarawak in Dewan Negara. — DayakDaily
