Dr Jerip tested positive for Covid-19

KUCHING, April 3: Sarawak Assistant Transport Minister Datuk Dr Jerip Susil has been tested positive for Covid-19.

According to a local daily, Utusan Borneo, the Mambong assemblyman was admitted to the Sarawak General Hospital yesterday.


“Yes, confirmed. I am in SGH and under quarantine for 14 days,” he was quoted in the report.

When asked on the cluster of infection, Dr Jerip revealed that he contracted the virus through the Good News Fellowship Conference Church.

He was reported as saying that one of the employees, a Covid-19 positive case from the cluster, was believed to have infected him.

Dr Jerip could not be reached for further comment on his health status at press time.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, his press officer Edward Subeng and another officer in the State Disaster Management Committee have entered self-quarantine for 14 days after coming into close contact with Dr Jerip in recent meetings.

Edward confirmed with DayakDaily, when contacted, that they have been advised by the Health Department to undergo self-quarantine for 14 days. — DayakDaily
