KUCHING, April 12: Deputy Minister of Transport I Datuk Dr Jerip Susil wants to ensure that all villages have their land documented and urged them to work with the Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) to obtain it.

He said land documentation for Bidayuh land started in 2012, but the response has not been very encouraging.

Dr Jerip pointed out that land documentation is very important to determine ownership of the land.

“Land documentation for Bidayuh land started in 2012, but at the moment only about 40 per cent of the villages in Mambong have done theirs, both for Section 6 and Section 18 (of Sarawak Land Code),” Dr Jerip, who is the Mambong assemblyman, stressed.

There are 50 villages in Mambong constituency, and Dr Jerip hoped that villages which have yet to start the process can move forward and consider the matter seriously.

Dr Jerip pointed out this at the closing of the NCR Land documentation project briefing organised by Persatuan Biperoh Kuching at the Biperoh Hall along Jalan Borneo Heights on Sunday (April 10).

Dr Jerip also pointed out that DBNA has been given the task and responsibility by the State government to coordinate with Land and Survey Department on matters related to the Bidayuh land documentation process.

“For Mambong, a coordinator has been appointed to work with the village chiefs and land committee in every village for the land documentation process,” he disclosed. ā€” DayakDaily
