KUCHING, July 3: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will discuss with Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution the alleged abuse of power and corruption by Immigration officers at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
According to Zahid, he also discussed the allegation which was made by Malaysian Tourism, Arts, and Culture Minister Dato Seri Tiong King Sing recently.
“This matter, in my opinion, can be solved through the existing administrative system.
“We will bring this matter to the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday (July 5), and I am sure he (Saifuddin) will provide an explanation on it,” he told a press conference at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today.
On June 30, Tiong alleged that blackmail and extortion by Immigration officers have been rampant at KLIA.
Following that, on July 1, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief Tan Sri Azam Baki confirmed that MACC would investigate the matter. — DayakDaily
