DPM Fadillah visits Borneo Native Festival at KL’s Central Market

KUCHING, May 20: Deputy Prime Minister Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof visited the Borneo Native Festival (BNF) held at Central Market in Kuala Lumpur.

Fadillah, in his Facebook post yesterday (May 19), said he was joined by Mukah MP Dato Hanifah Hajar Taib.

“Held for three days (May 19-21), it brings together exhibitions from various cultural sectors from two regions in Borneo, namely Sarawak and Sabah.

“Various exciting events and sales are held at BNF 2023 including various products and crafts from both regions, food bazaars, creative workshops, dance competitions and BNF pageants as well as cultural performances, singing and Borneo costume demonstrations,” he said.

Meanwhile, according to a report from TV Sarawak (TVS) on May 18, a total of 126 members of Gabungan Orang Asal Sarawak/Sabah (Goass) departed Kuching International Airport (KIA) to showcase their traditional costumes and promote the Borneo culture at BNF.

The group, led by Peter John Jaban, also took part in a 1-kilometre parade from Dataran Merdeka to Central Market, where the festival is being held.

Lubok Antu MP Roy Angau Ginkoi was also at the airport to hand over the Sarawak flag as a symbolic gesture of the group’s departure. — DayakDaily
