According to a media release today, the Distinguished Honorary Fellow (DHF) award is conferred to distinguished persons of acknowledged eminence who have rendered very substantial and outstanding services to the engineering profession, the home institution and/or the Asean nations.

The Governing Board of AFEO at its meeting in 2021 in Brunei has unanimously agreed to confer Fadillah with the award following his nomination by IEM with regards to his capacity as the then Senior Minister of Works Malaysia was responsible for planning and implementation of all development and infrastructure projects in the country.

The award was originally scheduled to be presented at a ceremony in conjunction with the 39th Conference of Asean Federation of Engineering Organisations (CAFEO 39) in Brunei in November 2021. The ceremony was however cancelled due to overseas travel restrictions of both countries in the light of the Covid-19 pandemic.

As the Senior Minister of Works, Fadillah was actively involved with and supported intra Asean engineering activities and was a great promoter of Asean Engineering Best Practices and Asean Engineering Mobility.

In August 2021, he officiated at the opening of the AFEO Mid-Term Board meeting which was hosted by IEM in Johor Bahru.

The IEM took the opportunity to extend its heartiest congratulations and thanked Fadillah for his outstanding contribution towards engineering.

The organisation also conveyed its confidence that Fadillah will further contribute towards greater engagement in Asean engineering expertise for the development of Malaysia as well as the Asean community. — DayakDaily
