KUCHING, June 9: Donations of food and drinks continue to pour in as the public show their support and appreciation to frontliners and volunteers at the AstraZeneca vaccination centre at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here.

Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng yesterday handed over 50 boxes of bottled water and packed food donated by Datuk Yii Chi Hau and Gingerbread House for 250 frontliners including volunteers at BCCK.

The donations were received by Covid-19 One-Stop Centre (OSC) commander-in-chief, who is also in charge of the vaccination arrangements at BCCK, Dr Cheong Yaw Liang.

“The food and drinks were donated as a sign of ‘thank you’ for the efforts and dedication of frontliners and volunteers during these trying times.

“I would also like to thank Datuk Yii and Gingerbread House for their contribution. The frontliners and volunteers will appreciate it very much.

“Such encouragement would help uplift their spirit in serving the people during this Covid-19 pandemic,” he said in a media release yesterday.

Wee hoped more companies and generous individuals will be inspired and encouraged to do the same for the frontliners who have worked tirelessly in the fight against Covid-19.

“We might not be the frontliners like them but the least we could do is to show them that we are supporting them from the back,” he added.
