KUCHING, Oct 3: The Kuching Dodgeball Association (KDA) officially launched the second season of the Kuching Dodgeball Social League (KDSL) on Oct 1 at Arena Sukan, bringing together five spirited teams in a community-driven competition that continues to gain momentum.
Game Week 1 opened with electrifying clashes as Tsuwave stormed past CATalyst with a commanding 12–1 victory, while PhantomHives edged out Green Horns 5–3 in a tense, closely fought contest. The fifth team, Orion, will make their season debut in Game Week 2, scheduled for next Wednesday.
KDA manager Darren Robin highlighted the growing passion among players, noting how the league has evolved into a platform for both casual enthusiasts and serious athletes.
“I won’t say there’s much difference between Season 1 and Season 2, but what really stands out is that more social players are now using the league as an opportunity to get more competitive. We also see returning teams showing greater determination, having trained properly to step up their game this season.
“My hope for KDSL remains the same which is to provide a platform for players to enjoy dodgeball, whether socially or competitively,” he said in a media release today.
Echoing the excitement, KDA secretary Ryshaune Lee teased what’s ahead for dodgeball in Kuching.
“KDSL Season 2 is more than just a league. We’re deeply grateful for the support from the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, and there’s definitely more to come.
“This season is really just a warm-up for something big happening at the end of the year. With the league ongoing, it’s the perfect chance for teams to build chemistry in preparation for what’s next,” he added.
The Kuching Dodgeball Social League will run weekly matches, providing continuous opportunities for players to sharpen their skills and for the public to connect with Kuching’s fast-growing dodgeball community. — DayakDaily
