KUCHING, May 19: A district police chief in Sarawak is under investigation following allegations of sexually harassing a female subordinate.
It was understood that the victim lodged a police report on Sunday (May 17), alleging that she had been sexually harassed by the senior officer on multiple occasions.
Sarawak Police Commissioner Dattuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah confirmed that the report had been received and said a thorough investigation was underway.
“The case is being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code for assault or use of criminal force with intent to outrage modesty,” he said when contacted by New Straits Times on Monday (May 18).
Sources said the alleged incidents began last month after the policewoman was posted to the district police headquarters.
The victim reportedly claimed that she was invited to the officer’s residence, where some of the alleged harassment took place, adding that she was also subjected to harassment at the workplace. — DayakDaily
