MARUDI, August 14: Two men, aged 26 and 21, were arrested yesterday for criminal intimidation and for alleged obstruction of duty at an estate here.

Baram police chief DSP Gabriel Risut said via WhatsApp the men were apprehended after the police received a report lodged by the estate’s security guard.

“The alleged incident reportedly happened on Saturday (August 11) at the estate’s office, around 3pm. The suspects were believed to have uttered abusive words towards and persistently mocked the on-duty security guards,” said Gabriel.

The estate’s security guard had instructed the two men politely leave the area to prevent untoward incident, however the duo was not happy.

Both of them left the area, but later returned armed with machetes and a shotgun.

They left only after the estate manager approved their leave application.

Gabriel said the case is being investigated for criminal intimidation under Section 506 of the Penal Code.

“The remand application for both suspects will be apply for today,” he added. — DayakDaily
