BINTULU, Nov 21: A Search and Rescue (SAR) operation is being conducted after a capsized boat was discovered about 40 nautical miles from here today.
According to a spokesperson from Sarawak Maritime, the SAR operation was activated at 10.15am when an unnumbered orange-coloured fiber boat was found capsized nearby the Bayan platform.
“A ‘fast crew boat’ Tegas Maju conducted a search in the location where the boat was found but failed to find any victim,” the spokesperson revealed in a statement today.
The nearby fisherman community was also contacted by the agency in order to identify anyone involved in the incident.
A total of 21 maritime officers was sent to the location of the boat’s discovery during the operation and at the time of writing, the boat and its owner have yet to be identified. — DayakDaily
