BETONG, Dec 22: A man escaped unharmed after a fire razed a house and damaged an Internet centre at Kampung Beladin in Pusa, here, late yesterday.
A team of seven firefighters from Betong fire station were rushed to the scene upon receiving a distress call at 10.10pm.
“The fire completely destroyed one house that was rented by the Beladin Fisherman Association, while the other house, which was used as an Internet centre for the village, was damaged at about 40 per cent.
“However, one victim managed to escape the incident and unharmed,” state Fire and Rescue operation centre said in a statement.
Firefighters managed to control the fire from spreading to a nearby storage area, located just six metres away from the burning houses. The storage area houses three diesel tanks with 6,000 litre capacity each.
The Fire and Rescue is investigating the source of fire. — DayakDaily
