KUCHING, April 2: Two directors of a company claimed trial in the Magistrate’s Court here today to charges of misappropriating RM114,994.47 belonging to a timber company.
Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi fixed May 16 and May 17 for trial as DPP Danial Ilham Kamarudin needed to serve additional documents to the accuseds’ counsels.
Wong HS and Yung WP, were charged in furtherance of common intention and had converted rental payment of RM30,087.48, RM54,643.24, RM30,000 and RM263.75 by a timber company for their own use. These rental payments were made by using cheques on January 4, 2012, February 23, 2012, April 17, 2012 and December 3, 2012.
They were charged under Section 403 of the Penal Code, read with Section 34 of the same Code, which carries an imprisonment term of not less than six months and not more than five years, and with whipping, and liable to a fine if convicted.
