KUCHING, June 27: With the availability of direct flights from Jakarta to Kuching, Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak) sees a golden opportunity to strengthen partnerships with Indonesian travel agents and corporate organisations—strategically positioning Sarawak as a premier destination for corporate meetings and corporate incentives (CMCI).
In an effort to tap deeper into Indonesia’s lucrative CMCI market, BESarawak launched two major initiatives in Jakarta this week.
Highlighting Sarawak’s world-class facilities and legacy-driven experiences, the bureau aims to attract Indonesian corporates seeking unique and meaningful destinations for business events.
Tourism Malaysia Jakarta has reaffirmed Indonesia’s importance to Malaysia’s tourism sector, setting a target of over 4.37 million Indonesian arrivals by 2025. BESarawak is leveraging this momentum to spotlight Sarawak’s growing appeal for the CMCI segment.
BESarawak chief executive officer (CEO) Amelia Roziman emphasised the significance of the Indonesian market and Sarawak’s readiness to deliver exceptional value.
“As businesses across Indonesia seek unique and impactful destinations for their corporate meetings and incentive trips, Sarawak emerges as a compelling choice.
“We welcome not only corporate clients from Indonesia, but also international clients based there. Our forward-thinking approach aligns perfectly with the aspirations of Indonesia’s business community,” she said in a media release today.
Echoing this sentiment, BESarawak’s Manager of Business Development (CMCI) Adrian Goh highlighted that Sarawak’s products are designed to resonate with discerning Indonesian corporates looking beyond the conventional.
“Through our product update sessions and presence in Jakarta, we showcased Sarawak’s strong offerings for the CMCI market. With seamless connectivity through direct flights, we see this as an exciting opportunity to tap into a new market segment,” he added.
On June 23, BESarawak hosted the Sarawak Business Events Product Update Session in Jakarta in collaboration with Tourism Malaysia Jakarta. The session gathered over 60 travel agents and business events organisers from across Indonesia, reinforcing ties and sparking new business opportunities in the CMCI space.
The bureau also participated in Travel Meet Asia (TMA) 2025 at Swissôtel PIK Avenue, Jakarta from June 25–26. Organised by Messe Berlin (Asia Pacific), the B2B travel trade event brought together Asia’s top travel professionals across sectors including business events, corporate, leisure, and luxury travel. The platform enabled stakeholders to forge strategic partnerships, explore fresh opportunities, and stay ahead of industry trends.
These initiatives align with Malaysia’s national agenda to boost regional tourism by sustaining flight routes and enhancing international visibility ahead of Visit Malaysia Year 2026, under the Sarawak Tourism Board’s “Sarawak: Gateway to Borneo” campaign. — DayakDaily
