KUCHING, Sept 16: Dewan Negara president Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar remembers the late Datuk Talib Zulpilip as a very gentle, soft spoken person, and was always friendly, polite and respectful.
Dr Wan Junaidi said he had known Talib since the latter was the general manager of Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) Sarawak.
According to him, their relationship became closer when Talib became the Permanent Secretary to Ministry of International Trade and Development Sarawak under the then minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who is currently the Premier of Sarawak.
“We worked together in getting financial assistance from the Federal government to develop Demak Industrial Park in Kuching,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Meanwhile, Minister of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development (M-FICORD) Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom said he was shocked and saddened after hearing about the passing of the late Talib.
He said Talib, whom he addressed as ‘Abang’ and the latter will addressed him as ‘Adinda’, was very close to him.
“We have lost a great leader and friend, and of course it is a great loss to Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS). May his soul rest in peace,” he added.
