KUCHING, Sept 29: The Regional Corridor Development Authority (Recoda) has completed 26 infrastructure projects in Lawas while 52 are ongoing and 13 are still in the design stage, says Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
āThis basic infrastructure project, which is expected to be completed within the next two to three years, will lay the foundation for Northern Region Development Agencies (NRDA) to implement various socio-economic programmes to increase the income and livelihood of rural communities, including the ability to attract and bring more investment to NRDA area,ā he said during the handing over of early schooling aid for B40 students in Lawas recently.
In his speech, Awang Tengah, who is also Minister of International Trade, Industry, and Investment (Mintred), thanked the federal government for the allocation of RM22.67 million to implement people-oriented projects with the hope of changing the socio-economic landscape in the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE).
Apart from that, he said, under the NRDA, RM6.828 million has been approved to implement 33 community projects known as Community @ SCORE.
āThis initiative not only proves the commitment of the federal and Sarawak governments to empower the economy of the B40 group but also shows the effectiveness of people-oriented project implementation efforts that are expected to bring a lot of progress, especially in improving people’s living standards by creating job opportunities and related business opportunities.
āThis, in turn, can change the development landscape in rural areas within the SCORE region under the administration of Recoda,ā he added. ā DayakDaily
